The Durston X-Dome 1+ is a thoughtfully engineered, freestanding ultralight tent designed for solo hikers who want maximum space, strength, and simplicity without compromising on weight. At just 985 g (35 oz), it ranks among the lightest fully freestanding double-wall tents in the world, while offering noticeably more room, better weather performance, and easier handling than most alternatives.

Spacious & Comfortable

Despite being a one-person tent, the X-Dome 1+ feels exceptionally roomy. Its unique floorplan, derived from the proven X-Mid design creates a wide and highly usable interior with 2.2 m² (23 sq ft) of floor space. The tent expands to 130 cm (50") at the head and offers up to 2.3 m (90") of usable length when sleeping diagonally, making it suitable even for taller hikers.
The 110 cm (42") peak height, combined with a smart pole structure, provides excellent headroom across a larger portion of the tent. You can comfortably sit up anywhere inside, even on a thick sleeping pad. A generously sized vestibule 0.75 m² (8 ft²) offers plenty of space for gear, cooking, or wet items without blocking the main entrance.

The X-Dome 1+ stands out with its impressive strength-to-weight ratio. Its innovative geometry, high-tenacity silpoly fabric, and efficient pole design (with optional carbon fiber poles) deliver up to three times the strength of typical ultralight tents.
Beyond raw strength, it excels in real-world weather conditions. Features like a fly-first pitch (to keep the inner dry in rain), overhanging doorway, non-sag polyester fly, dual peak vents for reduced condensation, and full double-wall protection ensure comfort and reliability in challenging environments.

Simple & User-Friendly

Ease of use is at the core of the X-Dome design. The tent pitches quickly and intuitively, with the fly, inner, and poles all connecting at the same four points. You can pitch it fly-first, inner-first, or fully connected — depending on the conditions.
It is fully freestanding, meaning it can stand without stakes (though staking is recommended in most conditions). The oversized door, enhanced by a crossbar and angled zipper, allows for easy entry and exit, while magnetic closures and smart layout details make everyday use effortless.
Additional features like a connected pole set (no loose parts), interior pockets, hang loops, and a compact footprint further enhance usability on the trail.

Premium Materials & Construction

The X-Dome 1+ is built using high-tenacity 15D silpoly, offering exceptional durability for its weight, comparable to heavier 20D fabrics. Combined with precision construction techniques such as narrow seam taping, double stitching, and reinforced stress points, this tent is made to perform reliably over the long term.
