Hyperlite Mountain Gear Crosspeak 1 - is a one-person, freestanding tent designed with ultralight performance in mind. It features a single-wall construction made from Dyneema Composite Fabric for both the canopy and the floor, providing strength and water resistance while minimizing overall weight. The tent is supported by DAC Featherlite NFL aluminum poles that fold down to a compact 39 cm length and are stored externally in an integrated sleeve system for quick deployment. The full packed size is approximately 20 × 15 × 13 cm, with a total weight of around 813 g.
The interior floor spans approximately 223 cm in length, tapering from 81 cm wide at the head to 74 cm at the foot, with a peak height of 107 cm. This layout comfortably accommodates one wide sleeping pad and still leaves ample room for organized gear storage inside the tent body. The design includes a single vestibule, accessed through a full-height mesh door set inside a weatherproof Dyneema outer door. This vestibule is ideal for storing a pack, boots, or cooking equipment outside the sleeping area while still protecting them from the elements. Perimeter mesh also promotes cross-ventilation, supporting airflow in warm or humid conditions.
The tent's structure is stabilized by external pole sleeves made from 20D sil-nylon, which enhance rigidity and wind resistance. These sleeves hold the X-Pole system - two main poles plus a cross pole - in place along the outside of the canopy, contributing to a freestanding pitch that doesn't require staking for basic setup. Adjustable vents at the head and foot end further assist with moisture management by allowing rising condensation to escape. Magnetic toggles secure the doors when open, while reflective markings on the pole segments make setup and orientation easier in low light or nighttime conditions. The bathtub-style floor, with raised edges, helps block splashing or running water during heavy rain, and the entire shelter is seam-taped for additional protection against moisture ingress.
Every element of the CrossPeak 1 is intended to strike a balance between weight, durability, and weather protection. Its compact dimensions and easy packability make it particularly suitable for activities like thru-hiking, bikepacking, and mountaineering, where minimizing bulk and simplifying setup are critical. The combination of premium materials, thoughtful structural features, and functional ventilation options results in a shelter that performs reliably in a range of conditions from exposed alpine terrain to dense, wet forests. Single-wall design: ventilation tips
The Crosspeak 2 is a single-wall Dyneema tent. Its adjustable head- and foot-vents help reduce condensation build-up in humid or still conditions, but as with all single-wall shelters, some interior moisture is normal overnight. For best results, keep both vents open and avoid pitching in fully sheltered, airless spots.
