The Zpacks Ventum Wind Shell Jacket is an ultralight essential layer designed for fast-moving adventures when weather conditions call for just a bit more protection than a base layer can provide, but without the bulk or warmth of an insulated jacket.

Starting at just 55g, it delivers exceptional wind protection while remaining highly breathable, making it ideal for high-output activities such as thru-hiking, fastpacking, or long days in changing mountain conditions. It blocks wind chill effectively while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape, helping you stay comfortable and regulated on the move.
Made from ultra-light .51 oz/sqyd Ventum Ripstop Nylon, the fabric is tightly woven and heat-calendared to resist wind while maintaining a soft, comfortable feel against the skin. It is also highly tear-resistant, mosquito-proof, and treated with a PFAS-free C0 DWR finish to shed light rain and moisture. The material offers excellent vapor permeability, ensuring all-day comfort even during intense activity.

Functional details include a full-length YKK zipper for fast ventilation and easy layering, as well as elasticated hood, cuffs, and hem that help seal out drafts. Integrated thumb loops keep sleeves in place, add light hand warmth, and provide extra sun protection. When not in use, the jacket packs down extremely small into its integrated storage pocket, making it easy to carry anywhere.

Ventum Ripstop Nylon is an ultra-light 7-denier fabric weighing just 17 g/m². It features a durable ripstop weave with a ciré finish on both sides and a PFAS-free C0 DWR treatment that helps shed light moisture. Designed for performance, it offers excellent wind resistance while maintaining high breathability and vapor transfer, making it comfortable during active use. The fabric has a soft, non-plastic feel compared to many other materials in this weight class. Ventum is also downproof and mosquito-resistant, making it a versatile choice for ultralight wind shells and sleeping bag shells. It is not fully waterproof, but can handle light mist and short exposure to moisture.
